The problem started years ago but is really gaining momentum now.

It seems to be a three headed monster creating a perfect storm of half truths and ignorance delivered in a whoever screams loudest is right reality.

Fox news is a major culprit here but its not the 10 million Fox news viewers that are the problem.  They were never going to change their mind or were that interested in real news anyway and would watch whatever extreme news source told them what they wanted to hear.  The problem with Fox news is that it supplies “Fox news” reports to their local new stations in cities all over the coiuntry.  This means the casual viewer is getting Foxified facts in their daily local news program. This scenario is repeated in other venues with other titles as syndicated news stories are cheaper then original reporting.  This is further inflamed by the cable tv model and 24 hour news cycle which means they need something to put on tv.  Think a couple of news spinners setting the national news coverage for hundreds of outlets.

This is happening at the same time that America’s Newspapers and network tv news gathering organizations have been decimated by budget cuts, layoffs or outright closures.  No more reliable newspapers and newsrooms means less journalists which means less responsible reporting and uncovering of truth which means more Foxified and syndicated news going unchallenged.

The third leg in this stool of News dilution is in fact the rise of the internet which interstingly is also largely at the root of the demise of Newspapers and Network News rooms.  Now through the wonder of the internet any idiot can be a journalist and report.  Sitting at a laptop they can write about whatever it is that moves them, email a crony for an opinion and voila the story is now validated with second and third sources and spun out on the internet into syndication on hundreds of sites looking for free content.  This is how opinion becomes news today when in another time it would not have been more then a cocktail party rambling of a moron or even worse a person with an agenda.

This combination of Fox News*, demise of professional News organizations and journalists and rise of self proclaimed reporters in internet silo’s has created a perfect storm of stupidity, misinformation and general national ignorance about important issues.  This has created the rabid, reality driven, those who scream loudest are right culture that truly threatens the American position in the world. Its hard to know where all this is going but it is clear this is a new, uncharted and dynamic reality.

For better or worse, a professional News class in America at least kept the national dialogue intelligent which can only be good for a country that wants to compete, improve and lead.

If the Obama team is smart they create 4 tactical group to focus on key areas of Palins shortcomings that she cannot run from.

Background – The more you know about her, the size of her town, and her experience the more scared you are

Record – Its not strong, she quit her role and she is not supported by her own state

Positions – Her actual policy would scare many that support her if they understood what she actually wants

Hypocrisy – Overlay who she says she is with who she actually is.

If the Obama team creates marketing around these four tactics they give Palin no place to go and derail her train as even she cant obscure who she is and the more people that know who she is the less that will vote to support her.

Lets for this discussion call it the Innovation Party.

Innovation is a word that most want for their country, economy and politics.

What would it look like.

Here are some thoughts:

The Innovation Political Party IPP is a new political party developed to propel the United States forward into a leadership position in the world by pulling Americans together to focus on real problem solving to build our economy, employment and standing as the premier country in the world based on the principles of freedom, tolerance and economic competitiveness.

The democratic and republican parties of the last 30 years have become so entrenched in partisan politics and wedge issues that they have wasted the our advantages to China, India, Brazil and other countries which is not acceptable.

Our government wastes endless resources on issues like gay marriage, abortion and guns while other countries surge forward and we fall further behind and politicians blame each other rather then leading.  In our country today words like Compromise have become bad effectively ending any real discourse on tough issues which is exactly what politics and government are supposed to be about.

The IPP is for Americans that are reasonable, thoughtful and inclusive who want their country to again be the country our founding fathers envisioned while taking into account new realities of our modern world.

IPP beliefs:
Campaign finance reform
Sensible climate policy
Taxes proportionate to income levels
Strong defense with compulsory military or national service
Immigration reform and tolerance for all
Limits on office holders time in the same office

The Innovation Political Party believes that only when these issues are addressed thoughtfully and intelligently can America once again compete, build it’s economy and shine as the country of opportunity, fairness and leadership.

Detractors of both the Democratic and especially the Republican parties will try to disparage the IPP with all sorts of slander, misinformation and falsehoods.  It is exactly this kind of useless arguing that put America in this situation.

It’s time for reasonable, hardworking, tolerant Americans to take their country back and get down to the difficult work of problem solving by talking, debating and compromise to pull together and move forward as a prosperous country.

That is a start for now.

The Republicans set the building on fire, watched it burn, handed it to the Democrats to deal with and now complain about how much water was used to put the fire out, that the floor is wet and the building is in disrepair.

It would have been better to let banks, cars and Fannie fail. Unemployment would be 25%, foreclosures would be much higher, savings would be lost and everyone would be happy.

What a joke.

NYT banner headline about Supreme Court Decision to allow corporations to spend with no limit or controls saying that democracy could be totally changed and a big article about Obama taking on the  banks risk taking and their should be regulation.

WSJ lead article about Obama causing stocks to decline because he is taking on banks and a small article about Supreme Court rule allowing companies to spend more on elections.

You could not have it more clealry illustrated then that.

The two biggest newspapers in the US with totally differnt takes on monumental decisions.

The Supreme Court said that now corporations can donate as much money as they want to a politician with no limit.

This means that any company can spend millions or billions of dollars with no oversite or limit to support a candidate.

The implications are that deep pocketed corporations could singlehandidly outspend the combined population of all US citizens donations.  This reverses over 100 years of laws.  It hurts both parties but it is easy to see how it helps republicans and their big corporate sponsors more.  Oil, Insurance, Military.  Think about it.

Remember this day.

He acted like a big pussy.

He needs to man up, assign blame where it belongs and start fixing unemployment.  Everything else will fall into place.

Screw up the country for 8-12 years

Lose all elections

Democrat comes into office as all hell breaks loose

Stonewall all democrats ideas and efforts to correct

Blame the Democrat for all troubles that actually were created or exacerbated by republicans

Win elections back to power
